~ABOUT: Portrait of an iris in bloom.
This original iris portrait on a lazy, sun-soaked spring day is one of my favorites--a humble tribute to Georgia O'Keeffe. The brilliant hues of purple and lavendar roll along the edges of the iris petals with a fluidity that was Zen-like to paint. Lines and shades seemed to take on a life of their own, creating a languid movement with every brushstroke. Even now, it is still easy for me to get lost in the flow of color, line, and form.
